Brazilian Music Friday Feature #19

Today's pick is a great classic samba enredo, Aquarela Brasileira (Brazilian Watercolor), the samba school Império Serrano's enredo from 1964. Written by Silas de Oliveira, one of the great enredo composers at the time, the title is an homage to Ary Barroso's extremely popular song Aquarela do Brasil (known by most as just "Brazil"). Império Serrano received 4th place at Carnaval in 1964, and then when they re-did it for its 40th anniversary in 2004, only got 9th place. You can also read a nice translation and interpretation of the lyrics here

Enjoy the song, and your weekend!
