Brazilian Music Friday Feature #18

This week's pick is É Hoje (It's Today), the samba enredo (song for Carnaval) performed by the samba school União Da Ilha in 1982, which landed them 5th place at Carnaval that year. I performed this one year with Batucada do Norte at our Carnaval here in Minneapolis, which was really fun, but don't ask me to remember the tamborim part! The lyrics of the chorus are: 

"Today is the day of joy, and sadness can not even think of arriving."

Sounds good to me!

Since it's Carnaval season, I'll be featuring a different enredo every Friday in February, to get in the spirit.
